Find Your Courage

“If you are stuck and lost right now, and you are wondering what you’re supposed to do with your life next, I can tell you only this: You are supposed to find your courage.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

The More Things You Try

Ultimately, success is all about taking your shot, over and over again. Sometimes you may win, sometimes you will definitely lose, but the more things you try, the more chances you have of succeeding. Put the power of numbers on your side. Take as many shots as you can. There’s no guarantee of success, but when you don’t take a shot, there’s a definite guarantee of failure. – Jeff Haden

Plan B

“When you’re going after something big, uncertain, and risky, it’s going to be hard and Plan B is usually something easy – probably even something you’ve already done before …

The harder Plan A gets, the more appealing Plan B becomes. Some things are too important for a Plan B. It’s up to you to decide if this is one of them.” – Tyler Tervooren

Why Not You?

Why not you? Millions of people have lost their jobs, gotten behind on their bills. Many have gone through the embarrassment and shame of foreclosure or bankruptcy. And yet, they kept on fighting and got back on top again. Why not you?

Many have gone through difficult divorces or lost someone very close to them, through death. Yet, they got through the pain and overcame the grief. Why not you?

Everyday someone stops killing themselves with drugs or alcohol, then go on to live a meaningful and productive life. Why not you?

Today someone woke up and said, “I’ve had it”, then left an emotionally or physically abusive relationship, where they were miserable and dying inside. Why not you?

You have something special. You have GREATNESS within you! Happiness and abundance are your birthright. Everyday is your Super Bowl. Someone is going to win. Why not you?

What You Want

Just because what you want isn’t here today, doesn’t mean you should fill the empty space while you wait for it to arrive.

‘In the meantime’ kind of living can be a toxic compromise.

The thing is, letting some of the spaces in your life be blank and open can be uncomfortable. Without stuffing your time and space, you’re going to feel how the wind moves through the holes in your life, and it might make you wince a bit. Clearing out the metaphorical living room in your psyche to make room for finer furniture can feel, well, empty.

Or… it can feel totally exhilarating. The rush of openness, the obviousness of possibility … the space to unfold into deeper truths … that attract brighter realities. Space.

Slow down so what you want can catch you.

Say no, thank you today so you can say yes tomorrow.

Make space for what you want to show up.

Find Your Backbone, And Your Wings

“Most of us settle in, and settle for what we have. Rather than pursue, we accept. Our lives become unwitting celebrations of passivity: we undervalue our work and perceive ourselves as wage slaves (and so we phone it in at the day gig), we consume compulsively (but not create), we pine for better lives (but live vicariously through our televisions). These corners we paint ourselves into, it’s no way to live. There’s no adventure here, no passion, no hunger for change. Remember that relentless optimism you once had? The goals you wished to achieve, before settling in? They’re still there. You need a nudge to find them; a little gumption. You can start that business. You can lose that weight. You can quit smoking, and learn to garden, and write that book, and be a better parent, and be all the things you want to be … the thing this world needs you to be. It requires courage and faith, both of which you can muster. It requires effort — but this effortless life isn’t as satisfying as it seems, is it? Declare war on passivity. Hush the inner voice that insists you’re over the hill, past your prime, unworthy of attaining those dreams. Disbelief is now the enemy, as is the notion of settling. Get hungry — hyena hungry. Get fired up. Find your backbone, and your wings. Flap ‘em. It’s the only way you’ll be able to fly.” –  J.C. Hutchins

Hope Grows

Hope grows.
It begins with an act of faith, a belief that if you do something, things will get better, or easier, or make more sense. That act can be as simple as initiating a conversation, or reading a book. It can be as radical as changing careers, changing jobs, getting married or divorced or moving cross-country to pursue an opportunity. It’s up to you. But it requires you do something, anything, to keep it alive. – Becky Blanton
